PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES
Fosfomycin is a bactericidal antibiotic produced by streptomyces. It has a broad spectrum encompassing both gram negative and gram-positive germs. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the peptidoglycan precursors constituting the bacterial wall. In pharmacokinetics, fosfomycin is largely eliminated in the active form via the kidneys. Tylosin is one of the bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotics active mainly on gram positive bacteria and Mycoplasmas and on part of gram-negative bacteria (Pasteurella). The tylosin-fosfomycin combination is, in addition to its synergistic effect, endowed with a very broad spectrum.
