PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES
Florfenicol is a synthetic antibacterial from the phenicol group, characterized by its very broad spectrum of action which includes most pathogenic germs in domestic animals, including gram negative and gram positive germs and mycoplasmas. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis at the ribosome. Florfenicol is characterized by its low toxicity compared to chloramphenicol. Its good oral bioavailability (> 90%) and its large volume of distribution allow very high tissue concentrations to be obtained. In the body, florfenicol is partly eliminated in the urine in unchanged form. Bromhexine is a mucolytic expectorant agent used alone or most often in combination with antibacterials. Bromhexine, by decreasing the viscosity of the mucus, facilitates the diffusion of the antibiotic and thus increases its concentrations at the site of infection.
TARGET SPECIES
Poultry.
INDICATIONS
Prevention and treatment of infections with germs sensitive to florfenicol in chicken. These are colibacillosis, MCR, salmonellosis, mycoplasmosis, omphalitis, infectious avian coryza and Pasteurellosis (Avian Cholera), turkey sinusitis.
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
BROMOFLOR is intended for oral administration in drinking water at the basic dose of 20 mg florfenicol and 0.50 mg bromhexine / kg / day, i.e. 20 ml / 100 kg bodyweight per day for 3 to 5 consecutive days. This dosage corresponds to approximately 1 liter of BROMOFLOR per 500 liters of drinking water.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND INTERACTIONS
Do not use in laying hens whose eggs or their derivatives are intended for human consumption. Do not combine with beta-lactamines Do not combine with alkaline solutions
